CHANGING TIMES

Words  ::  Roger Kellenberger // Images  ::  Roger Kellenberger

The reduction to the essential is the concept of this type of communication of time. Watch hands for hours, minutes and seconds are replaced with a continuously rotating disc, full hours and quarters are shown only. Pure understatement. By the means of just showing the essentials of time only full hours and quarters are displayed by the continuously rotating disc. A hole has been cut-out from the centerpiece, where you will find the clockwork usually. You can either see through or put your finger through it.
At a time when everything is about optimizations, information flooding and show-off features, the M60M refuses this movement visually and conceptually.
The M60M wristwatch is designed to communicate time in a simple way by reducing the shown information to the essential.
Finally, displaying the time is not the focus of this watch concept. It is mainly a fashion accessory and the completely missing centerpiece claims an iconic protest. What you wear is how you think. The ring shaped M60M is a fine accentuation of style and attitude.
The control elements of the watch are made of metal, the inactive parts of rubber. This composition generates a distinct difference of form and function.
The functionality of the closure of the wristband (spring steel coated with rubber) is similar to a snowboard soft binding, but with a wristband which is always closed. The watch can be worn loose or tight. By the push of a button the spring tension will release and the M60M can be stripped off easily.
